Using Googles "Inactive Account Manager"

I posted last week about unused accounts and mentioned some tips worth following - https://buff.ly/koCif2W

As a short follow up I've had a few questions around how to use Google’s Inactive Account Manager (‘Dead Man Trigger’).

Most people don’t know this exists but Google lets you decide what happens to your account if you stop using it.

It’s called Inactive Account Manager. Basically if you don't login for a defined period it will release all your content to a nominated contact (if you want it to)

Here’s how it works 👇

1️⃣ Choose a period of inactivity (3–18 months).
2️⃣ Pick trusted contacts — the people who’ll be notified.
3️⃣ Decide what they can access: Gmail, Photos, Drive, YouTube, etc.
4️⃣ Add a personal message if you want.
5️⃣ Google will then erase or share your data. You’re in charge, not an algorithm

You control the plan, not an algorithm or probate court.
